Hi,
Been on o2 for a few months now, and have the top modem (The N wireless one - can't remember the exact details). I'm fed up of the lack of flexibility in the box, and the fact they remotely change the settings at will, so I'm looking for a decent replacement.
I realise there are sometimes incompatibilities, so any recommendations ?
Thanks,
Michael.

Netgear 834GT, Gv4 and PN for wireless "g". DGN2000 and 834Nv1 for "n".
Avoid 834G v1,2,3,5 and 834Nv2.

Thanks for the quick response.
Is the Version simply a downgradeable firmware issue, or would I have to actually source the correct version of the hardware - If it's the latter, I'd rather look for an option where I can't go 'wrong' on purchase.

The version numbers are hardware revisions. Fail-safe options when buying new:
DG834 - Wired
DGN2000 - Wireless-N

Those are hardware versions. Firmware version numbers are completely unconnected.
Buying new, Broadbandbuyer seems to have good deals on many things. I find Novotech excellent on customer service and delivery. Prices can be good as well.
DABS isn't bad.

Both discontinued, so I recommend the DG834 and DGN2000 now.

Ah, I knew the GT was going, didn't know about the PN though. Ta!
May still be some around though?

Probably. I tend not to buy discontinued models though. I wonder how much life the DG834G has in it, I suppose Wireless-G routers will go the way of the dodo (Wireless-B) now that 802.11n has been approved. (Note to OP, the DG834G is not suitable).
