As soon as the router's switched on...

[link to this post]

... the HEC errors look like this :

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 30,456 / 67

It's the 'Up' figure that's worrying. It was about that as soon as I turned on the router about 4 hours ago.

Is there a problem somewhere ? - the figure itself hasn't really changed from when I switched it on.

Thanks in advance.

Have you power-cycled it to see if it happens again, or if it was just a freak occurrence? If you do it now though expect a lower speed frown.

Well, the same thing's been happening for a couple of days now. I tend to switch off the router before going to sleep, and switch on about 12 hours later (after work that is, not that I sleep for that long) laugh

I'm not getting any problems though (no drop-outs etc...) - everything's fine.

It's a firmware bug - acknowledged but not fixed by Thomson
Thomson were able to replicate the issue which sees upstrem errors produced even before a connection is established

That's nothing, when my new o2 box II (with the latest firmware) was repeatedly merrily losing its synch yesterday after just 25secs of synch (ie just like my old o2 box would do) the stats page synch speeds went not down to zero, but up to a reported several MILLION/BILLION/TRILLION figure of something like nnn, nnn, nnn, nnn kbps! (I didn't bother to write it down!)

We've also seen this on certain lines.. does not seem service impacting.

Edit: this was on a 585 v7

That's interesting to know, Matt
Certainly not service impacting from my experience

The last time we saw this was on a test router that we had loaned to a user. However, the router was fine on previous loans and also works fine on our test lines. It was just this one line that seemed to have the issue.

Very strange but graphing the errors showed the initial amount but it did not increase during the time in sync.
