Wireless Box IV coming soon

[link to this post]

It looks like the next generation of Wireless Box is on its way, most likely to replace the Wireless Box III. Numerous help articles have appeared about it, search for "Box IV" on the O2 help pages. One such article:
http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?N...

My guess it's going to be the TG587n:
http://www.technicolor.com/en/hi/home-networking/dsl...

Essentially it's a TG585n with usb ports for usb drives. Credit @ perksie for finding this.

Main diferrences are the USB ports on it from what i hear, so it is indeed probably a 587n

It was meant to be released with the new packages but I believe there is a delay

So as I suspected, The Basics and Access keep the TG585, and The All Rounder and The Works get the TG587n?

Maybe only The Works? AR has gained the "n".

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk
My domains, website and mail hosting - Tsohost. Internet connection - O2 Standard.

The package details say All Rounder and Works get "the best" router, which implies they will both get the TG587n.

Does that mean if you plug in a normal USB HDD you basically turn it into a NAS device, or is it just basically a USB hub?

Sounds nice if it turns normal external drives into NAS storage, one thing though does anyone else think it looks like a kitchen appliance or something designed in the 1950s? Dunno why i think that just something about the design.

That's what I think it is, as the help pages mention it being a media and ftp server, with 2 USB ports.

I think it would be good to leave an external HD on with the pc off, to access it when travelling.

Sounds cool to me if that's right.

Hi, well I ordered the 'Works' last week. Problem with a 'tag' on the line (just moved in, don't ask! lol) mean it hasn't moved yet. Hope to be good to go today then the 6-10 days wait kicks in.

Will I get the new IV box? It did say best box. Has anyone got one yet?

Cheers
