He has tweaked the noise margin down though. To 3dB or lower. 3dB on ADSL2+ can give 1200kbps or more.

been on a 3.3 SNRm for over a year m8

put on a solwise adsl face plate has squeezed a bit more

just seems as my line becomes more stable i have a higher sync rate in the weeks that follow

also using supplied tg582n router - the 7800n wont sync above 19.3 and other routers dont come close

looking at vigor 2830n next

decent connection considering you are around 2 miles from the exchange

worth ringing them up and ask to drop down a 3.3 SNRm profile

You can't be sure of that without seeing his error rates, and preferably a couple of days RouterStats noise margin graphs.

He could be lucky like you, or he could have a noise margin variation of 4dB.

They aren't too bad, but I would expect another Mbps or so on that attenuation.

Have a read of my Ring/Bell wire and Miscellaneous nasties pages.

There may be something there to think about. We need to eliminate any problems before considering whether or not to try the lower margin that StanMan has suggested.
