Sat broadband

[link to this post]

I moved my office to my home because BT guarenteed me 6meg. In reality it turned out to be .78. which BT cannot improve either short or long term which meant I had to seek alternatives.
Enter Satellite broadband. Looked good but expensive and gave me up to 3meg which it does, but not regularly. The initial install was rubbish and I now have a jodrell bank size dish on my garage ( not quite but it is a metre in diameter ) . The interesting thing ( actually [censored] annoying) is the company is based in Italy where the world thinks I live. So all ads on Google people, trying to sell me stuff on Facebook and any surfing one does, ends up in Italian! The provider when questioned says they are aware but its not that easy. I appear to be stuffed. Anyone got any ideas?

Full postcode of where you live to see if ADSL broadband is serviceable.
You could use a VPN Proxy to get a UK IP address but most of the services are chargeable.

Check what the registration details are for the IP address you have?

IP addresses are assigned in blocks to various countries, and if the firm were using a UK block things would likely improve.

Have you tried 3G?

Our local cell is only 3.6 meg but we do get most of that most of the time.

Some cells are 7.2 meg.
