High-speed MiFi from Three

[link to this post]

Iíve been looking at the high-speed MiFi deals from Three:

http://www.three.co.uk/Devices/Huawei/E586/Black

I wonder whether/ how well this form of access help with a number of issues:

1. Over the years I have not got the most out of my laptops before (a) at home I might swell sit at my desk and (b) beyond home the main WiFi spots are too noisy or crowded to be suitable for anything requiring concentration.
2. As stated here,
http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/otherbb/4046144-3g-...
Iím mulling over the idea of an iPad but would not want the WiFi only model if I werel imited to home and the aforementioned WiFi spots.
3. DSL access from the home can fail us from time to time. tongue BT are not always swift to come to our aid.

Opinions welcome!

Used an edimax battery powered mobile router at Reading Festival and great, removed from the laptop all the pain of handling the connection as it keep fading in/out of reception.

Rather than tie to a provider, look at the mobile routers, not as neat plugging in a 3G dongle, but you can carry a couple of ones from different networks to use what is best in that area.

Believe this is the one I was using link to ebuyer.com

Tried three differents networks dongles and was fine, and coped happily with dongle hanging off the end of a 5m lead so it could be positioned to get better signal (gaffer tape and plastic bag to waterproof)

A review at
http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/wireless-routers/2764...

Just check the mobile dongles it works with are what you can get.

Battery life at 90 minutes in review is not great, but not sure how long the MiFi lasts.
