Dump TITAN (O-BIT) for XILO???

[link to this post]

Looking now to rid my pants of the abortion that has become Titan. As much as i've like how the good time were, this recent debacle has got me bored with false promises and shocking Broadband (at times).

So was hunting about and as you do, I have had a nosey at XILO...

...but is this company another case of "Customer confusion promotion"?

I ask this because at the moment my line will not go above 4.4 odd MB which is fine - i'm paying £19 odd with Titan (100gb cap)...

...but XILO in one breath says......

and then in the next....

http://the-rx.co.uk/bbjoke2.jpg

What on earth is going on with that?

I WANT BROADBAND - I WANT NO THROTTLING - I WANT SUB-20ms PINGS - I WANT TO PAY NO MORE THAN £20 A MONTH - I WANT 100GB CAP or MORE.

THATS IT! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Pipex Failed
Titan ADSL was classic...
Enta-Failed...
O-Bit arrived and the clouds have gathered...
It's now looking like a swap - and FAST!

Mike @ Titan - Sorry fella - you've dropped a clanger!

Those figures are surely a bad joke right? LOL

My O-bit connection migrates on Monday and I cannot wait! Awful service, pathetic accounts who seem on the rob to be frank, and throttled to death.

I spent most of yesterday trying to load 3 Vimeo video pages for some documentary's I urgently needed to view ....... most of the day just waiting for them to load !?!!?

Aye - Mind you, The Bill I got made sense...

£11 odd for the incomplete month i'd had and the a full month ahead.

Seems about right but may just question it as so many others have been arsed about.

I Want Broadband - I want sub-20ms pings, I want solid speeds 100% of the time, I want a 30-day contract.

It seems I want too much.

Well the second one has three different tabs for Home, Office and Pro and seems to be the current offerings.

Where the first one comes from I don't know. Is it an old page?

You can only get the unlimited LLU product if you are on a C&W unbundled exchange. The Pro LLU is provided over other LLU networks

Got the crazy price page by putting in my number.

Lets hope Matt pops on here and clears it up - and the webpage.

People just want transparency and not confusing [censored] like that!

As I understand it
image 1 is the standard adsl IPStream from Xilo and if you click on the "home" or "office" tab on the table you will see the products available.
the 4Mb is your expected download speed.

Image 2 is the LLU offerings which it appears are not available to you.frown

IMO on an non-LLU option, then that just isn't realistic. There is no way that it would be sustainable for an ISP to offer 100GB/month+, with no traffic management, no shaping, and running at full speed (not to mention the <20ms pings).

Xilo, and various other 'premium' providers that want to maintain the quality you're asking for, will not be able to do it (at least not whilst sustaining a profit) at the price you are asking.

Somethings got to give, and if you're not prepared to loose on service, then you're going to have to bump up your budget.

That being said, it may be possible if you had an LLU option available at your exchange, but without that sort of info, it's difficult to tell.

Thank god someone has told it how it is.

I WOULD bump up the budget, but not to a stupid level (Like Xilo are offering)

I think you're over-reacting and being slightly silly.

The table is there, to show all the products. If we don't know your number, how are we supposed to show which products you CAN have but as I have said before, our new broadband only site is due soon. However, there will be pages for each product but once again - how does that differ without putting your number in?

Once you enter your number in the checker, it tells you exactly what you can have.

Unfortunately, we're not there to provide sub-standard products and you need to be slightly more realistic as to what you want, or what you are going to pay.

You will not get what you want without paying for it.

£63 a month - pffffft pleassssssssssse.!

The cost that BT charges ISPs for bandwidth is not cheap, so saying something like that indicates you might not even be aware of them.

Us and other ISPs charge a realistic amount in line with what we are charges. We're not going to make a loss and not going to implement stupid, and sometimes unrealistic shaping. Nor do we block ANYTHING.

The connection you are provided is the internet, as it should be. You can use it for what you want, ie. downloading without having to wait until 2am.

If you're on O-Bit, you're aware that you're paying a much lower amount and getting the service level to match. With their offering, something had to give and it did. We're seeing more and more people move away from people like O-Bit, Enta, O2 "Access', Sky Connect and so on.

All of those providers offer unrealistic limits for the price they charge on a BT-based product and all of them have issues with congestion.

You really have two options on BT-based products.

Pay less - traffic shaped - possible congestion - no QoS
Pay more - no shaping - fast throughput at traditional 'busy' times - excellent QoS

The above is not just true with us, there are a number of providers out there who charge a realistic amount for their products and deliver a great service.

If you want a good connection, without shaping, blocks, or any funny business. You need to pay for it. We are a business, and we're not going to offer something cheaper than it costs otherwise, we won't be in business any longer but we're not going to offer a sub-standard product either. What good is broadband if it is barely usable?

I hope that has clarified this for you.

Matt
