Adsl 24 and Xbox live problems

[link to this post]

A word of warning for anyone thinking of migrating to the new Adsl24 service provided via Murphx. Last friday my entanet connection was moved over to the new murphx service as supplied via Adsl24. Since then I have not been able to use my xbox live service at all, support insists that Im the only one affected by this but a look on their hidden murphx forums suggests otherwise.
If your thinking about migrating to this service and xbox live is important to you it might be wise to do a little research before you do so. Im told that the new IP range being used by Adsl24 is being rejected by xbox live and preventing its use, support can give me no reasurance that this will be fixed soon and have made no comment as of yet on their unofficial forum. I have no idea how widespread this is but looking on their forum shows Im not alone with this problem, however there is no mention of it in here so maybe only a few are affected.
Looks like a migration is the only solution for me at the momment.

Hi spender1,

This is indeed as a result of the XBox servers blocking our new RIPE IP allocation. We've already contacted the server admins on numerous occasions but as of yet we've had no joy.

It's extremely frustrating for us too as there is nothing on our network or service causing the XBox live service from connecting, but instead their own servers are blocking our IP range. There is little we or anybody else can do, only the XBox team can resolve this on our behalf by speaking to their server/network teams and removing our IP block from their firewall/BOGON filter rules.

This is one of those issues that will likely resolve itself overnight one night without us even knowing, once someone has updated their filter rules.

Thanks for the info james, you might want to update your support personel so that they pass on the correct information instead of pretending the problem does not exists, also you might want to update the folks on your unoficial forums so they dont have to post on here in order to illicit a response.

I'm also having real problems connecting to xbox live. I'm on Xilo which is also on the Murphx network. I thought it was me until I read the support forums on xbox.com (hundreds of posts there worldwide) and also saw this post here. Rebooted the router and no difference - was working yesterday so I guess these changes were made very recently. Just have to wait for MS to sort out the problems by the looks of things frown

Which one? There are lots, just look at this forum:

Most posts relate to the recent connection issues.

You are not alone...

I was swapped by adsl24 from entanet to murphx on Thursday morning at 5am.

The swap was fine, the internet speed is the same if not a little higher due to a higher sync rate after my modem was off for a couple of hours in the morning before I woke up and put in the new username.

I was on xbox live on the Thursday night absolutely fine. So it did work to start with.

I went to connect on Friday afternoon and was then hit with the xbox live errors. frown

ADSL24 staff are blaming Microsoft for not preparing their servers with ip address ranges starting 109 which I am on. And it's out of their hands.

I phoned Microsoft myself after that and finally got through to 3rd tier support and away from the "is your modem on?" staff, the technician checked the servers for my specific complaint and told me there was no reason he can see why their servers would be bouncing this ip address range.

So in summary, I have reference numbers from adsl24 and microsoft both claiming not to know how to fix this problem but will let me know if they find out anything new.

Nice work both, I assume my bill will reflect my loss of paid services?
