[link to this post]

Just a heads up that we've now launched our new "Complete 50 LLU" service which offers:

- FREE Setup
- Line rental included
- Up to 24 Mb downstream / 1 Mb upstream
- 12 month contract (only £25 exit fee within 12mth term)
- 50 GB usage (8am-midnight)
- Unlimited usage (midnight-8am and all weekend)
- Static IP provided
- No throttling / port-blocking / shaping... zilch!
- 200MB webspace
- Unlimited e-mail accounts
- 24/7 UK support
- SNR tweaking (6,9,12,15dB SNR) and (Interleaved/Fast path) available

£23.90 inclusive of VAT per month
or
£24.90 inclusive of VAT per month (with 100 mins UK landline calls bundle)

It's based on the Opal wholesale network so anyone who has Opal/CPW/TT at their exchange can take advantage.

This will prove to be a considerable saving for many as take in to account a customer on our Home 30 package (£19.90) plus standard BT line rental (£14.60) = £34.50/month and we can offer the LLU line rental/broadband with an extra 20GB peak usage (50 instead of 30) for over £10 less a month at £23.90.

P.S. Did I mention we're doing free setup on it too!

Thanks,

James

Not a problem - we can accommodate the extra webspace on an individual basis without extra charge smile

Hi James,
Good to see you have launched this package, how much would a new line connection be?? And can you only migrate across or do a new activation straight after the new line is installed??

At present we can only migrate an existing line to the Opal service however as we offer BT line rental ourselves we can activate a new line via that (£4.99 for a stopped line/restart a line) or £79 for a brand new line.

Thanks

But surely then the customer could not have this package as it would be a WLR3 line? Or is the contract length on that up to you so you could then transfer it to Opal?

Our normal WLR3 line rental is a 1 month contract for new lines, so we can immediately place a transfer order to Opal MPF upon the landline being activated. We can migrate any working WLR3 line to Opal, regardless of whether it actually has a broadband service enabled - it just has to be a working landline.

Thanks for that James, I'm giving it serious consideration. If I told you that I'm 3.5k from my exchange and I get about 5mbps download from my ADSL max service, what sort of speed am I likely to see on ADSL2+ ? I'm just after some idea.... not a cast iron guarantee.

Not a lot different on the connection speed unfortunately. See how close together they are on this graph.

However you would not have the BT Wholesale IP Profiling system getting in the way, so throughput could be noticeably better, without being "fast".

You should get a fair increase in the upload, if that is any use to you.
