Does my line have issues?

[link to this post]

My line doesnt seem so stable on adsl2+ keep seeing drops or resyncs, since moving to Surfwise last week.

Router stats below. Things seemed fine at first but despite getting initial syncs at 10200 llast week things eem not so hot now, have to say a gain of just over 2 megs over adsl1 is a bit of a disappointment considering ly ine is only 3k physical.

Things have cone crazy overnight. now 9 retrains!

Am also seeing an error message I have not seen in my stats before.
Excessive Impulse Noise: 1 More Impulse Noise Protection Recommended

Looks like time for a chat with support later today when I have time.

Your sync is spot on for your attenuation. Not sure what vivaciti will do. As you know my line is very low sync for the attenuation but am still getting drops - they have suggested making the target snr 9db which will only make my sync worse! I expect thats what they will do with you.

Ask for INP2?

1.Vivaciti Lite 15598/1268Kbps @ 6db INP0
2.TalktalkEssentials 15788/1254Kbps @ 6db INP0

If you are suddenly seeing frequent disconnections on what was previously a stable line/connection, then there is a problem/fault somewhere,

Increasing target SNR or ramping up INP May reduce the disconnections but will certainly reduce the sync possibly to a point that being on ADSL2+ is pointless as the sync rate would be on a par with the 8000kbps limit of G.DMT , and simply masking the underlying issue/s

But as your line profile suggests that you are already on interleaved,so there maybe some level of inp applied already, plus you have a higher than what is considered to be the average target margin already, so basically if your are seeing problems now ramping up SNRM ECT you are still gonna see issues, Double check your wiring filters, test in test socket too, to rule out your own extensions ect, try a different router to be sure it isn't that , don't forget to also check the voice side too for crackles pops ect

The filter was changed quite recently due to issues on uncancelled echo - router message suggested filter and that seemed to help. I have been in test socket for about 3 months. There were low sync & no BT speedtest function issues with this line in Jan, which appeared to have cleared all except an error message on the BT speedetester which while it was now working - wasnt producing an IP profile figure or actually logging speedtests agaisnt my line.

I'm sure there is still an issue with my line - and I wish I could get away frpom BT group cpompletely as they only seem keen to collect rental on the voiceline that I dont use except for broadband, while seeming totally reluctant to do any maintainance in return.

Im gonna put in a poisoned router today to stop BT group poisoning my router with dodgy firmware - I have been made aware that some issues exist in the new 6.3.x version they have been stealthing out to everyone with an Ex business 2-wire 2700.

There is definitely a problem.. am seeing thruput almost at zero at times - a slower speed than BTw at its worst. I have a guest at the moment but after the weekend I will give Viva a call..

Not sure if you problems are down to exchange or line issues, but might be worth considering getting a Billion BIPAC 7800n Router, Great for holding stability on long lines, and is know to increase the sync, but the best thing is you can play with the SNR for speed vs stability I used BT 2Wire for a long time, but since switched i get zero dropouts.. my Vivaciti goes live tomorrow ill post an updates to let you know how my connection goes.

If you are with an llu supplier then the BT ip profiling ECT is no longer, as the surfwise provider has some control over it, so BT are not longer a factor, apart from the line plant to your home , and i know only too well ,what BT seem to consider is acceptable for DSL speeds , If they make no guarantees for dsl performance across their line plant then they should not be taking money from it by charging isp's The BT speed tester will not work with LLU connections ,

Yeah My comments were making a comparison between a BTw based service with Red VPs and the LLu service I am on now. Actually yhere is ONE aspect that BT may ahve borked for me, the firmware in my router - It has updated itself and the new version appears to be very buggy from what I have read.
