Time Talk Burnley nightmare

[link to this post]

Hello , this is my first post and I’m looking for some help.
Sorry to ramble on but sometimes forums complain that there’s not enough information so I’ll give all I can.
My father who nearly 80, unfortunately was conned into moving from Talk-Talk to a company called Time-Talk based in Burnley Lancashire.
They managed to move him without him realising he had been. They didn’t ask him for MAC number which I thought was very odd as you need one from your previous supplier to authorise any switch over. Anyway one when I had gone around to help move some stuff, he said he was having problems with the internet. So I checked and it was dead. Now I work for a small computer shop and the vast majority of call outs are people having problems with their broadband. So I’m no mug when it comes to diagnosing faults. Simply put there was no ADSL on that line full stop. The phone was still working though, which was one lucky thing as my Dad has just had a kidney transplant and gets his hospital appointment through it as they won’t ring a mobile. So I called Talk-Talk who informed me that they no longer supplied telecoms to the address. So I asked my father if he had cancelled the broadband and he said no they had only just sent a new contract out. It was only me reading the contract that noticed it wasn’t Talk-Talk! I asked him if he had talked to Time-Talk and he said no Talk-Talk had called him telling him they could offer a better tariff because he was such a low download user, but they would need his bank details to set up a direct debit for the new price. So I called Time-Talk which I had to wait for 45 minutes for them to answer, who said it was all perfectly legal they had done nothing wrong and the contract was binding, if I wanted to get out of it would cost £196! So I said I would complain to OFCOM which I have, they cut his phone off !
So for 12 weeks he has had no broadband and 6 weeks without a telephone. I called Time-Talk and asked them for a MAC number, they said it would take at least 2 weeks to generate one, that was 4 weeks ago. I emailed then two weeks ago because after calling OFCOM who we now have a case raised with had informed me that it should not take more than 5 days and in fact in most cases they can give you one there and then. They have replied today, I quote “Unfortunately Sir, there is a problem processing your MAC code, the order management team are looking into this and are aiming to get this resolved ASAP. It will be emailed to you as soon as possible.

Thankyou for your patiennce.”
<- yes that’s their spell checker working just fine !
I pulled some strings and found out that there is an active tag on the line belonging to Kingston Communications who are now KC.com. They supply lines to Tpad who are Time-Talk. From what I can gather and this is from my Virgin Media contact , because we are resellers at the shop, Time-Talk owe KC.com a lot of money and that Time-Talk are hunting around for another supplier, hence all the complaints on the review boards, and the fact that the line is good according to a BT engineer but we are not being supplied Broadband.

Ok here’s the question how the hell am I going to get broadband switched on for my Dad? BT won’t do anything without a MAC number I called them 3 times now. OFCOM’s procedures are so tame - 2 emails – 5 working days each to reply – then a phone call from a manger .. and what will they achieve ?? How do I get BT to take the tag off so we can complete our order with them and get my father back on the internet?

It's pathetic of them and disgusting to con your dad into changing his BB and leaving him w/out any phone frown

Fir starters, launch a formal complaint with them: TimeTalk Customer Complaints Code, and when they fail to sort it out, take it to their ADR org. CISAS. Unfortunately it could take over 8 weeks frown

Is he still paying fees to them? He should write to them cancelling the contract for non-performance and stop paying them.

Can't you just order, and afford, a new line from BT? They will ofter waive connection fees if you take BB from them.

Might be a job to grab old # until it it is relinquished by TimeTalk.

Talk Talk appear to block access to that domain. Interesting.

This web page is not available
The connection to broadband.timetalk.co.uk was interrupted.

Thought I had heard of them and not in a good way

A complaint to Ofcom while it won't help the individuals situation may help to add a nail to the firms coffin or help them to actually clean up

yes, I tried www.timetalk.co.uk first (rather than clicking your link) and it is blocked. On this machine I can flip between a TT line and a BTW line with a mouse click (well, two) and it appears or not according tot he line selected.

If you use the Search function for timetalk you'll see others reporting it blocked in July.

It is almost a "passing off " exercise.

If TimeTalk are working a scam to steal TalkTalk customers, blocking the TimeTalk website is probably a good idea from their point of view. It will help people such as your Dad from accidentally getting to the site, (I have done a couple of times in the past) and not realising it isn't TalkTalk, or at least part of TalkTalk.

So saving them from being slammed like your Dad somehow was.

I have raised the question on their forums
http://talktalkmembers.com/t5/Introductions-and-Anyt...

My Dad wasn't conned he was high jacked ! And if I'm not wrong in British law you are allowed to use reasonable force to reject hijackers up to the point where you shoot them dead. And i have linked them to Tiny Computers ( gone bust) - Time Computers (Gone Bust) - Time Talk ( soon to go bust) all trading from the same address. When will our stupid government take action over the few people who start company after company ripping people off running away then coming back to do the same again ? According to the Burnley express person I talked to its the same Asian family that have set up over 30 ltd company's in the last 15 years, drive 40k cars and laugh at us for being stupid enough to fall for their scams.

Hi, im having a problem with which seems to be with the same company/companys. It started with Supanet two yrs ago, I tried to connect with
them but had lots of problems so cancelled my contract and went to BT.
Now 2yrs later they are chasing me for money, the company are Quick collect
debt collectors, when writing a letter to Supanet it has come back as time talk.

The addresses of both these companys are both in Time Technology Park
Burlney, after reading this post especially the last imput it seems a scam. Has
anyone any ideas or knowledge of these companys.

I had a similar problem with Pipex after it was bought out (forget by whom). I had left Pipex about a year before the sale but some 3-4 years after leaving I started received demands for arrears owing.

The problem is that unless their 'rogue' invoice is settled they pass it on to a debt collection agency and then things really go pear shaped.

These sharp practices should be outlawed !!

I say get the torches and pitchforks out....

Good luck

My god these guys just don't give up !! Our Asian friends are back conning their way to a new Audi. I'll see if I have the log on details for the facebook page and update it. But tbh until the government change the way a company can fold and shift to another overnight this kind of thing will be a way of printing money for fraudsters.
