finally done the deed and requested a MAC!

I was still on the old Xtreme Solo service and had been meaning for some time, to request my MAC from Pipex. So I finally did the deed.

I am aware they have once again recently been bought over, but I don't want to given them yet another chance, like a have done with previous buy outs.

I got through to their MAC line straight away, and in fairness the advisor was very eloquent and did his very best to persuade me to move on to an 8meg £7.95 deal, which he claimed could also be reduced to something like £4.95 since I currently have my landline calls with Talk Talk. He also claimed there were no download limits or capping, but wasn't able to state the contention ratio. But I just thought it sounded too good to be true, and stuck to my guns and went ahead with the MAC request.

Now for my question. I currently get billed in advance fo3 30 days service via DD, and this is scheduled for tomorrow. So based on the advice I've seen on these forums, I assume that I need to do the following?

- instruct my bank to prevent all further payments from Pipex after tomorrow's payment
- back up my MAC request with an email and letter

Now I expect if the process runs smoothly, I should be due a rebate on my final month's payment, however from what I have read, this may be difficult to achieve with Pipex?

But I suppose if I can ensure I get no further payments taken via DD I will only have paid about £10-12 extra so it won't be the end of the world if I can't recoup the money...

Finally, any advice on which ADSL provider to switch to, as I haven't looked for a few months?

My father uses Zen and this has always been a reliable and fast service. Plus I have heard Be being highly spoken of. Are Zen and Be still worth considering?

Cheers

What is your actual billing period (11Sep to 10Oct perhaps?) is with pipex extreme solo from latest bill, and when did you request/receive your MAC ?

Please note you have to give and pay pipex 30 days notice and it usually starts from date of when MAC was issued, and provided you use the MAC. (I have a suspicion you may owe a few quid to pipex even after they debit your bank account today)

BeanSpiller, can you let me know what number you called to migrate as I am an old Xtreme Solo service customer and am thinking of migrating but am not sure of the number, thanks in advance.

You can call free on 0800 912 1649.

I have twice requested my MAC and received it next day by text, voicemail and a letter a few days later.
