I was still on the old Xtreme Solo service and had been meaning for some time, to request my MAC from Pipex. So I finally did the deed.
I am aware they have once again recently been bought over, but I don't want to given them yet another chance, like a have done with previous buy outs.
I got through to their MAC line straight away, and in fairness the advisor was very eloquent and did his very best to persuade me to move on to an 8meg £7.95 deal, which he claimed could also be reduced to something like £4.95 since I currently have my landline calls with Talk Talk. He also claimed there were no download limits or capping, but wasn't able to state the contention ratio. But I just thought it sounded too good to be true, and stuck to my guns and went ahead with the MAC request.
Now for my question. I currently get billed in advance fo3 30 days service via DD, and this is scheduled for tomorrow. So based on the advice I've seen on these forums, I assume that I need to do the following?
- instruct my bank to prevent all further payments from Pipex after tomorrow's payment
- back up my MAC request with an email and letter
Now I expect if the process runs smoothly, I should be due a rebate on my final month's payment, however from what I have read, this may be difficult to achieve with Pipex?
But I suppose if I can ensure I get no further payments taken via DD I will only have paid about £10-12 extra so it won't be the end of the world if I can't recoup the money...
Finally, any advice on which ADSL provider to switch to, as I haven't looked for a few months?
My father uses Zen and this has always been a reliable and fast service. Plus I have heard Be being highly spoken of. Are Zen and Be still worth considering?
