Painfully slow speeds.. am I the only one?

[link to this post]

Hi guys,

I've been with plusnet since Sept 2006 (nothing but regrets..).
BB+ user.
Recently over the last 2/3months my internet speeds seems to have dropped down to what seems like 56k. This is regardless of the time of day I use the net. I dont use P2P. I cant even surf the web properly without having to refresh the page about 20x. I tried to leave plusnet but was told I would have to pay up to something like

Hi there,

Certainly appears to be some kind of issue there.

Were you able to pass the ticket back to the CSC asking them to investigate the issue further? I imagine we had just receive the default "no fault found" message from BT.

Yes I finally did.
Its difficult to use online support tools, when my internet isnt working properly..

Why is it that your isp does not offer phone support? When there is clearly someone on the phone support line (thats when I can get finally get connected to them) they just refer me back to using the online support tool.

The guys that you will be speaking to don't specifically deal with faults, as we have a specialist team in place that do.

All of the faults that we deal with will also be done on the ticket itself, which is why you will have been referred to that.

Kind Regards,

The fact that it seems to have been accepted without further reference to the customers is unacceptable, wouldn't you agree?.

Sorry Wingco, I don't understand the point that you are trying to make?

What are you saying is unacceptable?

Since the ISP rep won't ask the obvious question. How much do you download and upload per month? If you go over 3G total of up and down traffic PN traffic shape your connection until it is until it is unusable. And for the last couple of months the shaping has been even more severe. See other threads posted over the last couple of weeks.

And why doesn't James try and help and explain?

can I really run up 3gb's by only surfing the web?
I dont use P2P, and no heavy downloads. Because of the lag of the last few months I've stopped play cs altogether.

Rubbish - and you comments dont help!

Look at the BT test results
BT Test results:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 7150 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 62 kbps

This test was not conclusive and further testing is required.

What should of happened is PN CS go - oohh they look bad - we will log a fault ..... but no .. they just read the default - "no problem detected" from BT (even though this is often wrong) and then tell the customer "no fault".
