Any ramifications for PN Customers....

[link to this post]

Using BT Rin?. Will PN be making any statements informing customers of it's intentions?.

Some Plusnet PAYG users (like me) are on RIN - I'm sure as hell bothered as to whether this could affect me!

I already contacted Plusnet when i read this the other day, the tech agent said "I can confirm that we do not feed our customers browsing habits through Phorm or any other marketing company"

That may be true (and is) for PlusNets BT centrals and peering connections, but BT Retail control RIN, not PlusNet so if BT decided to include all traffic via RIN in a Phorm scheme, PN would have no say in the matter, or its customers using it!

Yep, absolutely.

Whilst we will not be logging our customers browsing habits, we have no control over traffic used on the BT Retail network.

Have there been any timescales given in this announcement?

More or less confirmed by Ian Wild in reply 41 in the Phorm thread on the PlusNet forums

So, just to reiterate for those not watching closely, we don't have any plans to work with Phorm or anyone similar, although I can't guarantee that the RIN platform won't be affected (It presumably will)

I understand those using the RIN "trail" have two logins, one for RIN and one for the PN Network, is this still the case?.

Sure is.

Edit: To expand.

Our normal PlusNet customers will connect using username@plusdsl.net whereas RIN enabled customer will be able to use either that or username@plusdsl2.net.
