Sync speed

My sync speed is ranging from 1000 to 7000kbps but I've had my internal and external wiring checked and everything is fine.

What could be the problem?

Put bluntly, most likely noise in the AM radio range. Generally if it is the line at fault e.g. loose connection the attenuation will also vary.

Some modems cope less well with noise, whereas others hold on
