Plusnet router

Are Plusnet supplying a TG582n these days? This page says otherwise:

http://www.plus.net/support/customer_service/orders/...

... but some posts on their forum suggest it's the TG582n now.

Yes. It's on their list, but not as standard. Possibly because it's newish?

Scottish Labour politician: “The SNP are on a very dangerous tack. What they are doing is trying to build up a situation in Scotland where the services are manifestly better than south of the border in a number of areas.”

Interviewer: ”Is that a bad thing?”

Scottish Labour politician: “No, but they are doing it deliberately.”

I ask because someone I know has a TG585v7 on Plusnet and would like wireless-n. However the TG585v8 only does wireless-n at 65mbps, so I suppose they will have to wait until the TG582n is fully rolled out by Plusnet.

There is no guarantee it will.
Trying to find the reference comes into the too difficult category but there was a post a few weeks back in the Plusnet forums where it was stated that Plusnet were evaluating a number of routers for their new default offering
Personally I hope that they don't settle on a Speedtouch now Thompson now Technicolor router

This post makes the TG582n sound like it's more than in evaluation phase: http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php?topic=1023...

Plusnet will supply them if you ask nicely. About 1 year ago I also got them to supply a DGN2200 which is another wireless n router.

I since found that the wifi on my Nokia E65 mobile would not see my home wifi network if I enabled n. My later Nokia E66 is not so fussy.

Hi,

You can increase the wireless speed of the TG585v8. Just beware that it has its downsides too. Read this thread in full before you decide whether to do it.

Hope that helps.

Seems like you've launched the TG582n officially now. Am I right in saying existing customers can have this for p&p only when committing to another 12 months?

Yes, that's the case - though only if they aren't already in contract for a router. If they are then they can buy a 582n outright though.
