Network performance for streaming

[link to this post]

Is anyone else getting the issue that streaming iplayer etc between 9 and midnight is suffering poor performance?

I only get it during these times and have good speed (around 10Mbit downstream) but over the last couple of months the speed is getting worse.

Thanks

What account type are you on and what steaming app/site is it?

Usually when people say iplayer they mean BBC iPlayer!

Sorry, I really wasn't clear. What platform are you streaming iPlayer on? PC/Console/TV ?

Hi

Sorry forgot to swich on notifications. It is usually on a PC and is not just limited to iPlayer - most of the streaming services seem to have similar issues (4OD, Lovefilm etc).
It rarely used to happen before in the evening and it consistently improves around 23:00 onward.
I have scanned around and picked a better channel on WiFi just in case but that has made little difference.

I just wanted to say that I get it on all the ISP's I use.

It's annoying I was about to sign up to PLusnet to get a service when I realise it was the Iplayer. Today I streamed Netflix for 9 hours on my phone connected to a ROku box and big TV not a single problem, but tried to watch the Iplayer and I was getting about 2 seconds between buffers - my phone does about 6mbps down 3 up most of the time.

So it's not plusnet. Either the BBC are trying to force people into getting a licence to watch it or they have stopped looking after it. It says there is not enough BW to stream SD or HD but when I try their "diagnostic page" I get between 6430 and 6790 which is more than enough!

If you download the program and then watch it does it play properly?

I've two PC's and a Panasonic Vierra TV. One PC and the TV can stream iPlayer HD perfectly well, the other PC won't as the CPU maxes out. I'm on 20CN and get similar results as you on the diagnostic.
