Can Plusnet use PPPoE authentication on FTTC products?

[link to this post]

Does anyone know if I can use standard PPPoE authentication on PlusNet FTTC products?

I remember reading something about MER but I would rather use the BT supplied modem and my existing Asus RT-16 router?

Thanks

MER is the system Sky use.

Nothing to stop you using that router with your plusnet username and password.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet Extra Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.0/14.9Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

Yep, you can even connect a PC direct to the BT modem and setup a PPPoE dial-up connection to connect. Useful for diagnostic purposes... or if you have a device (like a firewall) that you want to use instead of a router.

Though make sure you have a software firewall running on the PC, because you'll be effectively DMZ'ing that PC directly to the untamed raw internet doing that ?
