Migration to PlusNet Fibre

[link to this post]

Is there anyone from PlusNet Sales / Support that can help me with migration to the Fibre service? Looks like I may need to get set up via TR-69, and have ability to remote manage the router after the install since I probably won't be at the location at install time (unless there is some way that can happen on or before next Wed Jan 30th).

See my circumstances in this thread and recommendations kindly given by David_W

What router to use / can I use my own etc.

I'm abroad at present and hence difficult to make calls into Sales / Support; I could sync via email or could also receive calls during business hours tomorrow (if that's an option).

Any help appreciated - thanks.

Hi there,

By default the routers don't have remote access enabled, so you'd need someone at the premises able to log in and change that setting before you'd be able to get into it.

The only router that'll work with our TR69 platform is the Technicolor TG582n we'd send out if it was ordered. The router's serial and model etc. needs to be registered on our TR69 platform before anything will auto setup, so if you want that I'm afraid you'll need to take the wireless router option. You could use another router if you like of course but it would need setting up manually.

Hope that helps.

As I said in the other thread maybe something like Teamviewer installed on a PC, and can do this before the install then after the install get the PIN and remote into a PC and do what fiddling they want is the easiest solution.

Thanks orbrey. Seems I would take the wireless router TR-69 option do to at least get online at first - then get to reconfiguring the remote management afterwards as per Mr. Saffron's teamviewer suggestion.

Would it be possible to PM you a few questions? I had sent an email to Customer Support but hadn't heard back regarding pricing etc. Thanks.

Thanks - do I have to be a customer to sign up at first or no?

Hi, not a problem at all - go for it.

Also, yes you need a Plusnet account to be able to post on our forums.
