Would not reccomend Plusnet

[link to this post]

I have been with PN for 2 months now (1month on fibre) and i can say im not impressed at all . My connection is great during the day and im able to get my full speed (78Mb) but during the evening around the time of posting this i often struggle to get 10Mb . The ping times fluctuate a lot from 20 to 180 ms which as im an online gamer is not what i need .
For customer service they are great but i would rather not be having to talk to them and have the connection im paying for at all times .

Have you raised a ticket explaining your problem or spoken to the tech support people

Wired or wireless? Plusnet router or your own? Checked nobody leaching on your wireless?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,website and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 54.3/15.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

It could be early signs of congestion at the exchange as this will show up in the evenings when more people are online.

I am starting to observe such slowing down shortly after the local schools close in the weekday afternoons, further worsening in the evenings.

ORANGE in my case, "up to 17 Mbps", slowing down from typically 14 Mbps to 9 Mbps.

Doesn't seem to happen as radically over the week-end, at present.

I wonder if the expansion of on-live TV is causing much of this degradation.

Do you mean your ISP is Orange, not Plusnet? I would suggest you are in the wrong forum. This one is for Plusnet problems, rather than problems across all ISP's.

ok sorry for not replying till now , my guess is it is congestion as speeds have been great all day until now as its dropped to around 10Mb again . The speeds improved about 1am last night so the drop isnt for that long but still happen,
The way im testing is via cable and no one else online .
thanks

See what this says about your exchange status.

Is your wireless service secure? (WEP isn't). Have you checked for unknown users on it?
