SamKnows Performance Monitoring Unit

Just plugged in my SamKnows Performance Monitoring Unit after finding it 'hidden' by my wife - I think she may have thought it was a present for me that she'd ordered or something!!

So far I can see no difference in how my connection 'feels' which is good as that means the wife and kids won't realise we're part of anything untoward.

Any other plusnetters on the SamKnows monitoring thing??

Very good instructions on how to connect the kit into the router 'stack'.

Had on running for 3 weeks now and you would not know it was there, have you logged onto SamKnow website to see your stats and if you have a iPhone they have a good app for quickly seeing the daily/average stats.

I've had one for the last three years. It's not caused any problems and the stats are interesting to see.

I have had one since November or December - it gives a consistent speed record unlike the very variable readings you can get from other Speedtest web sites (including the one from this site)

I hope Plusnet get to see the results.

I've been on the monitoring unit for a couple of months, doesn't seem to cause any problems with my connection. Top tip on the android app, it's weird that they don't mention it much on their website.

Loving the stats thing already.

Noticed a little 'blip last night around 10pm that sent speeds plummeting and they are still trying to recover.

Seemed to be a fairly big 'blip' as all figures seem to be affected.

Anyone else notice anything?

yes there are problems on the PN network atm which affect some users during evening peak times and PN are working on it. The problem appears not to be an easy fix as PN staff on their forum asking for users help, I worked with a few other sand Bob Pullen (PN staff) on Tuesday evening re problems.

Your Whitebox will show big drops if your affected for periods during evening peak time mine is normally around 8pm but recovers between 9-10pm rest of day/night constant speeds reported by whitebox.

You can try gateway hoping if your badly affected this can cure the problem in the short term but can return the next evening even thought you have changed gateways.
