Are Plusnet Going to Accidentally Disconnect a Blind Person?

[link to this post]

My father has had broadband & telephone for a number of years from PlusNet but he is suffering Macular degeneration, is registered as blind and is 87 years old, and can no longer see his computer screen.

He phoned PlusNet last week to ask for his broadband to be terminated but for his telephone line to be continued. Unfortunately PlusNet gave BT a closure notice on the phone line. I contacted them last Thursday and they said that they had reinstated the telephone but left the cancellation on the broadband. Great

Yesterday (Saturday) BT was still showing the line to be disconnected so I contacted PlusNet. They said that it was a good job that I had called as on Thursday they had reactivated his telephone account but had not told BT not to disconnect him. All sorted.

I have today looked at the BT website & they are still showing that PlusNet have a stop disconnect notice on the line.

With a confused blind 87 year old I am very concerned that he does not get his telephone disconnected but I am still not convinced that PlusNet are doing the right thing. Any suggestions please.

Who is the line rental paid to? Plusnet or BT Retail?

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk | Domains,site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - Plusnet UnLim Fibre (FTTC). Sync ~ 59.4/14.4Mbps @ 600m. - BQM

PlusNet

We are considering a transfer to BT but their website says that they will not consider a transfer of service due to the stop and that I should contact PlusNet to get the stop notice removed - which we have done 3 times!

We are considering transfer to BT because of free directory enquiries, free 1471 connections and free operator connection of calls for the blind which PlusNet don't offer.

We have not mentioned to Plusnet the idea of transferring the telephone to BT.

You can't change to Plusnet for phone without having their broadband, but one you have a PN phone you can migrate or stop the broadband without having to move the phone away.
