BT Sport on PN price rise

[link to this post]

Has anyone noticed this? I've done a quick search on these forums but not found it.

Currently
Plusnet broadband customers can now get BT Sport via the Sky Digital Satellite Platform, so all you'll need is a Sky Satellite receiver box and dish. For just £5.99 a month you'll get BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN - and all three channels are also available in HD for an extra £1.50 a month.
From 4 August
From 4th August the price of BT Sport from Plusnet on the Sky Digital Satellite Platform is changing to £9.99 a month for SD and £12.49 for HD, and will include BT Sport Europe, BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and BT Sport ESPN.
Link.

There's a rather dead thread on the Communty Forums.

No wonder there are price hikes with this sort of bidding:-

I did say so here:

I suppose if BT want to compete with Sky for sports TV, they will have to raise their basic packages too (i.e. line rental).

BT have moved into the TV broadcasting game. Big money and high prices for their customers.

I have to say that, for F1 over the net, a replacement for VIP-TV someone suggested has proved excellent, particularly as I had the bright idea of using a different browser with AdBlock installed on it. Though some of its feeds aren't always as advertised.

I haven't been able to thank the person, as they block PMs.

they can only offload so much of the cost to line rental etc. it was a only a matter of time before the channels themselves would become expensive.

This is an outrageous increase and all to pay for yet more soccer, which I don't watch.

BT customers can get BT Sport Lite, which apparently includes all the Premier
rugby games, which is all I have BTS for. I can't see any mention of it on Plusnet's site, though.

well BT retail broadband is a different product to plusnet and BT is their main brand. They will obviously want to have a difference between the two products.

IF you want BT sports, then the best choice is probably going to BT infinity.

Unless you also want a static IP address and reverse DNS.
