I think I've just spotted the next change

FTTC self-install. Link.

To me that means it is now incorporated into the Plusnet ordering system, but that as yet they don't have a VDSL2 router.

I think they have had that option for a while for those that have their own kit before the move to PN.

No engineer visit to anywhere is needed for an FTTC >> FTTC migration. It's not the same scenario as self-install, and since when did Plusnet have OR modems in stock?

Like I say, perhaps it's for situations where there's kit already there.

I sure hope they get it right. Zen stuffed it up for me so would be nice to see PN doing this right.

All I needed was a faceplate but I got an engineer, faceplate, Hg612 and nothing else.

It's not standard process but we can get a modem sent out under certain circumstances.

Since they started buying them off eBay?

For the case in point, see the link in my OP, there isn't kit already there. If there had been I obviously wouldn't have made the post, with the chosen Subject.

Just as a point of information, I was possibly the first FTTC migration into Plusnet. I had in-depth discussions with sales and sales management about the installation/setup charge, as they hadn't encountered such before. (February 2012).

BT Retail sales just in effect told me I was mistaken in believing I had FTTC as only BT sold it. That too involved sales management. I clearly didn't know I was actually on Virgin Media cable.

Seeing as they were my two short-listed options .... LOL
