Gateway checker - Plusnet can't fix simple rDNS issues

[link to this post]

Since the the middle of August we've been seeing the following when connected to a new endpoint:
Sorry, the tool failed to identify your gateway; this does not mean that anything is wrong with your connection.

Posting the following information as a reply to the Gateway Checker Update topic in the Community Announcements forum will help us to diagnose the problem.
peer6-Te0-0-0-21.telehouse.ukcore.bt.net (109.159.254.46) 3.878 ms
195.99.126.183 (195.99.126.183) 3.868 ms
link3-central10.pcl-gw01.plus.net (84.93.249.196) 3.863 ms
Fixing it means correcting a DNS entry.

1. It's totally pathetic that we've been seeing the same issue crop up for years and they are incapable of properly planning introduction of new gateways by adding correcting rDNS to the check list of actions required.

2. Bob Pullen of Plusnet posted in August that it needed correcting and he'd flagged it to the relevant person and it's still not done.

Things are seriously falling apart in Sheffield!

Well it's a shame you have to care about gateways in the first place, it's a phenomenon exclusive to Plusnet.

Fair and square

We don't keep our customers in the dark, or make things complicated. We talk fairly and clearly in plain English, giving all the details. If we've messed up, we'll be honest and explain what we're doing to fix things, rather than trying to hide stuff.

There are so many ways that at present Plusnet ought to be prosecuted under the trades description act!

I bet if i security audited plusnet, there would be exposed issues as my gut guess is they dont employ anyone to fix this kind of stuff.

I wonder how long they will take to change the number to be called from mobiles on the contact us page from 0345 to 0800?

Three months, and make an error?

The indispensable man or woman passes from the scene, and what happens next is more or less the same thing as was happening before.

As far as I can see, there's always a problem sending the order, because that was exactly what happened with my first orders as partners before this became the least of our issues with plusnet, so I can only assume the whole system sucks
