Fair usage policy

[link to this post]

I have just joined Plusnet. I was previously with Tesco, who I found satisfactory but as you probably know have sold out to TalkTalk. No way I want to go there!
I assume "unlimited usage" will be exactly that as I use up to (but not over) 150Gb per month. I don't how normal this is. (Would be curious to know what normal usage is these days)
I do not download heavily during peak periods, which I guess to be 1600-2300 and weekends.
So hopefully I will not be throttled by fair usage policy.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Cheers
Drew

There is no fair usage policy and don't post that usage over at the Plusnet forums or you will be told you aren't trying hard enough

I'm with talktalk, my usage is usually about the 100Gb's per month. Interesting question from Andrew just to see how that compares with other members on here.

Might add I've never had any problems with talktalk

I average 100Gb a month, and have once or twice used 180 to 200 Gb in a month. Never had any concerns. I use Netflix, and Amazon Video / Prime - along with iPlayer etc.

I have some colleagues who have households with 2 adults and 2 or 3 kids, and most of these households use over 300 Gb a month. One is with BT and the other with PlusNet.

This puts it into perspective on an 80Mbps speed you could be getting through 240GB per month just on Samknows testing
http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,1452...
What is the Test Schedule?

Test Schedule for those on a limited broadband product / data cap in place:

Download and Upload MT: Once every 6 hours until 6pm, then hourly thereafter
Jitter: Every 2 hours
Web browsing: Every hour
DNS: Every hour
Latency/loss: Every hour
Video streaming (YouTube, Netflix, iPlayer): Once every 6 hours until 6pm, then hourly thereafter

Test Schedule for those with an unlimited broadband product/ no data cap in place:

Download and Upload MT: Once every 3 hours until 6pm, then hourly thereafter
Jitter: Every 2 hours
Web browsing: Every hour
DNS: Every hour
Latency/loss: Every hour
Video streaming (YouTube, Netflix and iPlayer): Once every 3 hours until 6pm, then hourly after.

How much data does the Test Schedule consume?

If you are on an unlimited broadband product or we are aware that any data cap has been removed, you will be put on our full testing schedule. The data consumption will vary depending on your package. Maximum daily usage approximately is:

8Mbps: 820MB
20Mbps: 2.06GB
40Mbps: 3.95GB
80Mbps: 8.17GB

Please note, as there is no data cap in place, the increased data consumption from testing will not be charged by your provider as provision is unlimited.

Those users with data caps in place are put on a reduced testing schedule. Maximum daily usage approximately is:

8Mbps: 54MB
20Mbps: 54MB
40Mbps: 108MB
80Mbps: 1.17GB

During you participation, if you do move to an ISP with a limited broadband product and exceeding your data cap is a concern, please contact the support team at community@samknows.com so we can ensure you are placed on a reduced testing schedule.

Pretty tame these days, many on here use terabytes per month. I get through about 500GB with very little effort.

You'd run in to issues if you tried to download more than 750GB per day.

Thanks to all for comments.
I guess I'm out of date on current usage, what with HD streaming etc.
