Chunks of the internet gone missing or desperately slow

[link to this post]

Having great difficulty browsing today. many sites not available or loading very slowly.

Anyone else?

Anyone know if its a Plusnet issue or a wider network issue?

I am with Plusnet and woke up today to slow speeds and dns issues! The thinkbroadband speed test says I have 0.7mb connection, BT speedtest says 76mb.

Websites are timing out on me or not loading at all. I am using a vpn at the moment just to be able to access bbc weather and other sites. BBc weather won't load for me if I just use plusnet.

I turned the router off for 30mins and logged back in but no difference.

PlusNet service status post this morning...

20/07/2016 @ 09:06

This is an update to the previous post regarding an issue affecting some customers causing them to be unable to access some online sites and services. Unfortunately we're receiving reports this morning of customers having similar problems.

Our engineers are investigating this issue and we'll provide an update later today.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may be causing.

Kind Regards,

Customer Support

I had same problem. Ironically I rebooted my router TPlink vr900 and it now seems fine maybe just a coincidence. I know BT and Plusnet are having problems as it said here too

I'm having that as well today.

I thought it was a deterioration of an existing problem with a noisy line, but I think that may be a red herring, as some sites are responding fairly normally, others permanently time out.

Me too.

Some sites are going very slowly or failing totally.

Yup - well and truly broken with another side effect which I haven't sorted
Starting Firefox as normal and the process starts but the window doesn't open
Starting in Off Line Mode and then switching to On Line works
Starting with new profile works

It's one of the burning topics on Radio 5Live at the moment, with people who are with BT or Plusnet messaging in from various parts of the country.

I thought I'd be able to VPN my way out of trouble, but I can't connect to the VPN service. (Edit - I can now, using France(V). My usual Netherlands or UK didn't work)
