The 10pm for 30-40 minutes stinks to me of someone in the house or a close neighbour turning on a television for the ten o’clock news, then off at the end.

Maybe a terrestrial one or via the internet.

My broadband basic info/help site - www.robertos.me.uk. Domains, site and mail hosting - Tsohost.
Connection - AAISP Home::1 80/20. 200GB. Sync 71097/14070Kbps @ 600m. BQMs - IPv4 & IPv6

Could it have been the router (noting that you've since changed).

The was packet loss on your first hop (between your computer and your router) and latency is pretty high for a local connection.

It is worth setting up a BQM as that'll show obvious congestion issues - packet loss. It'll be a good test too as if you see little to no packet loss to your router WAN interface but see far more from your LAN, it looks more a local issue than one with the connection.

Thanks for the reply matt smile ive tried both routers yesterday when i was having issues and both routers picked up on the same things apart from 1 thing... my asus router got 75% packet loss and the Technicolor TG582n no packet loss but i still had speed issues. Then from 11.30pm last night my speeds improved and my pings dropped while connected to the Technicolor TG582n.

So i switched the asus router back over and my speeds and pings were fine again too... i think i stopped gaming about 3pm and all was fine.
Today im running futher pingplotter tests 1 hour on each router too see if this shows anything, 20 mins into pingplotter and my asus router shows no packet loss but im getting 80% loss on my 3rd hop this > 129.hiper04.sheff.dial.plus.net.uk

Btw i did try that BQM but it seams to crash on my windows 10 after downloading the latest verison so i removed it.

I'm not sure what you've downloaded but BQM isn't something you install.

https://www.thinkbroadband.com/broadband/monitoring/...

You'll need to enable WAN ping response on your router and then direct that to your public/external IP.

Give it 24 hours to get a full day of data and then compare any periods you are seeing issues to the graph. It will help correlate any issues to pinpoint if local or external.

Plusnet's one-off £5 (if it still is) is good value. It also means your BQM always works. A good idea is to put the live link in your sig, like my two.

No difference to gaming ping.

Hot SVLANs I know nothing about, sorry, and changing ISP can be for better or worse anything/everything.
