Not impressed with the 8kb/s download speeds

[link to this post]

Connected on the Poplar exchange, however, suffering from 8kb/s downloads at peak and between 30kb/s and 50kb/s off peak. All Tracert logs return as "request timed out" and so far customer help has been useless saying they cannot do anything.

30kb/s on a 20mb/s connection is not really acceptable, even on a busy exchange is it? We are using the Zyxel router.

Poplar exchange is often congested and regularly suffers low speeds. But post your line stats reported by your router to see if there's a local problem your end.

Are you able to use the BT Speedtester? This will help us to identify whether the slow speeds are attributable to:
- Your phone line itself
- The (red) hot VPs in Poplar
- Post office having a capacity problem across the board

If you can use the speedtester, try it at several times; are the speeds ALWAYS bleak? Or is it just in peak hours?

Cheers,
Blueacid
