Suggestions for new line provider, WLR, no call package

[link to this post]

Line-only customer with PO Home Phone, broadband elsewhere.

Just off the phone to Home Phone asking if I could pre-pay for a year to take advantage of the £10-per-month line rental, but since I joined before July 2013 ( i.e. I'm on WLR ) this is not available to me.

We don't use the landline for any calls, just broadband, so any suggestions for a basic line service less than £13.75 per month?

Primus are cheap but their reputation dissuades me...

I looked at Zen and AAISP but they won't provide a line without taking their broadband service.

Thanks!

Is there a good reason you wouldn't switch the broadband service as well?

You could just take BT line rental. £141 a year so 11.75 a month

Oh BT Retail are much cheaper than I realised. Thanks!

My current ISP is Goscomb, who are excellent and I'd lose a lot of functionality if I left them so I'm planning to just swap-out the underlying line provider.

Still not as cheap as Zen at £11;22 PM, no contract tie in, no call set up fee, per second billing and top customer service and no year up front to get it.
Scottish Hydro even cheaper line rental.

Thanks guys! For me Zen is in the lead based on reputation and value, assuming they can do a line-only option for me.

Their website refers mainly to 'consolidation' of broadband and phone line, so I'll call them on Monday to confirm.

Nothing wrong with Post Office as a phone line provider, I've had good experience over the past five years, but I might as well have three quid per month to put towards the broadband rather than paying for call packages I don't need.

They do line only. It's what I have with them. No contract tie-in

Here's the Home Phone Line page on the Zen website:
www.zen.co.uk/home-office/voice/phone-services.aspx

It's a bit hidden as the Zen website defaults to showing you Business products (with pricing excluding VAT) - the trick is to click on the purple "Home & Home Office" tab at the top of the screen (which then shows prices inclusive of VAT).

I've recently switched to Zen for our landline (phone service only - broadband is elsewhere), and everything's been fine so far. They charge 90p extra a month for caller display if you want it.
