XP Firewall

[link to this post]

For years I ignored the built-in XP Firewall simply because, whilst it does a reasonable job stopping incoming nasties, it let's anything go out.
I had been using the free version of Outpost.

Last week I found this:
Windows 7 Firewall Control for XP:
and I have been trying it out.
So far so good, simple to use and does it's job. Might be of interest to some you?

Will check out the link smile

The best firewall hands down for XP was Kerio Personal Firewall in my opinion.. Big shame Kerio sold it to Sunbelt - while I do like Sunbelt, the product wasn't given enough attention.

Never tried Kerio but done most of the free ones. Comodo used to be good but got bloated and interfered with anti-virus apps.

The problem with Outpost was the HIPS, this slowed down my system, created loads of entries and became a right PITA. smile
For anti-virus I now use MS Security Essentials and it does it's job for me.
