Free AVG Internet Security 2013

I received an email recently containing the following:-
"Did you know that if you’re using an older version of AVG Internet Security, you can update it to AVG Internet Security 2013 for FREE?"

The email came from Cyprus, and I was wondering whether it was a scam or a genuine offer.
