Time To Leave Nildram, But To Where?

Hi folks - hope you can help out.

I have been with Nildram for a few years now on the old 500DSL Surf tariff. I have a 50gb monthly "fair-use" limit, which I never reach. I have been noticing regular drop outs for months now, but since the beginning of Jan, they have been cutting my p2p use completely for large parts of the day / weekend. I could understand this if I was exceeding my limits, but as mentioned, never remotely get there!

I need to move, so what is out there that would suits my needs? I am just under 2km from my exchange (Irvine North), so I probably will never see much more than a 2mb service. All I want is to be able to surf and run my p2p without being messed about. Is this actually possible these days? Budget is around the £20 mark for a decent service. I was aware of the posts from a few years back about Nildram throttling, just that I never saw any of it - till now...

What? Sky does unlimited fair-usage with no throttling of p2p? Forgive me for my scepticism - would that be correct?

Don't forget it's Sky LLU, things are much better there than BT-based providers. Why not ask in the forum about that. But a long contract.

Others you could look at are AAISP, IDNet and Zen, all BT-based but no throttling. The prices reflect that though.

My line lenght is about 3.5 Km and a syncing at 7584kbps.

Is your internal wireing causing these problems and slow sync.

I think UKOnline use the same LLU kit as Sky so they are another option to consider.

I think there are plenty of users that would not agree with that comment , your lucky enough to have Easynet/Sky LLU at your exchange which means if you have a Sky satellite subscription you could have discounted broadband .
If you have no Sky subscription or don't want one, UKonline can also provide you with a service on Easynet LLU kit .

I'll need to brush up on my terminology, as I obviously don't know much about LLUs. Many thanks to all who have replied. I will have a look into these.
