phone line only supports 1Mbps, which isp?

[link to this post]

typed my phone number on samknows and it indicates that my phone only supports up to 1Mbps frown . no LLU, cable etc, only bt adsl.

Can someone recommend an isp with 1Mbps connection that offer fair usage (either ~30gb per month, or higher/unlimited off peak downloads)?

preferably with free connection.

Is it a new line? as the checker can be a bit inacurate on new lines.

AAISP No free connection, but consistent speed - PRO £20.50 pcm - small (relatively) 2Gig peak allowance, but peak is 0900am-06:00pm Mon-Fri
100 gig off peak all other times, apart from 02:00am-06:00am unmetered, instant phone answer, Knowlegable respondant.

yes, the phone line has just been activated today.

samknows broadband checker says i'm 0 metres away from the exchange...

i'm looking at tiscali right now, its package says including phone line rental. does that mean i don't have to pay the bt phone line rental? or am i misinterpreting it?

AAISP has such a low peak usage is really not suited for us. I'm perfectly fine with scheduling downloads during off peak, but others won't.

The maps should should show you where the exchange is, so you can figure out the probable line length yourself.

New lines take a few days for databases to update and reflect accurate results. So what you want is a provider that will provide an up to 8Meg connection and then the router will figure out the speed when you first connect it.

i know first hand how bad tiscali can be, as I had the misfortune of using them for 6 months when I was a tenant... but most speed problem was caused by the use of p2p in the evening, apart from that there were few hiccups.

the price is our primary concern at the moment, we are planning to stay at this address for 9 to 12 months, and move on to somewhere hopefully with Be LLU.

Have I missed any ISP within similar price range and FUP as tiscali? If possible I'd like to avoid tiscali...

the dot representing my address is on top of the exchange, tried just the post code and it gave the same result. maybe it's still updating somehow?
