Massive speed drop off and intermittent page loading

Since yesterday morning my connection speed has dropped off the face of a cliff. I was seeing 6.5-7.5Mbps but now I'm lucky to see 0.55Mbps.

Sometimes pages will load very slowly, other times they just time out.

Rang Sky support three times yesterday, each time advised to reboot the router, and the second time they adjusted the line speed down and advised I put on a new microfilter, which I did as I had a spare in the router box.

After each reboot the problem would resolve for about an hour, then return.

Ended up with them promising that 2nd line support would call me within 72hrs, the techie thought my router was the problem.

Anyone else experienced something similar? Sounds like they will probably send me a new router out, but would be good to hear if anyone else has had a similar problem

Doing some more testing, FTP traffic is also severely limited, though torrent is not. Started the latest Ubuntu downloading via a Torrent and quickly saw sustained download speeds of 5-600 kb/s. Odd.

Based on that have you tried with a different machine? Can you borrow a laptop

The problem is mirrored across my XP laptop, Vista desktop and Android mobile.

A friend came round Sunday night with his laptop, same thing there.

It's odd. I'm now sceptical that the router is at fault and the solution lies elsewhere, likely at Sky's end.

Argh.

72hrs has now passed, so I called Sky to find out what's happening.

The guy I spoke to on saturday has logged nothing. Really annoyed at this as the guy was so helpful and knowledgable.

Let's see how I get on with "Accounts Relations"...

Which are you on? LLU or there connect package on BT hardware?

I have Sky Connect and until April was getting 6.5 mb, now I am lucky if I get 1 mb, usually half meg. Have not been onto Sky yet couldn't face the hassle, but looks like I will have to.
