tracert question

[link to this post]

Hi not a problem as such but confuses me a little ive got sky BB/line rental/talk and was told i would be put on the SBVN (sky broadband / voice network). But the hop after my router is fe2-0-0.ar0.enlba.uk.easynet.net shouldn't this be a sky.com one and dose this mean im not on the SVBN after all.

easynet.net is owned by Sky. What do you here if you dial 151 on your phone?

I'm sure you will find Easynet has been brought out by its management and Sky don't own Easynet as a company .

Sky most definitely own the LLU network Easynet set up and run for Sky for many years , who uses what has always been a mystery but not who owns what .

Again I'm not sure how BT is involved in porting a number from virgin cable to Sky LLU but i am sure they are involved as they do still own the copper loop from the exchange to your house .

At a guess ( and this is a guess ) your virgin number was moved to BT and then on to Sky , as i don't see any ISP being able to perform a number migration with out BT wholesale involvement .

Ahh right yea possibly that the Openreach fella just popped some codes into his mobile on the porting line and it switched in like 30 secs so maby it dose goto BT first. Oh well its not an entirely bad thing its enable me to keep a check on some things that require a BT number in the checkers lol.

Thanks for getting back.

I would guess that there weren't any spare SVBN ports on the Darton Exchange when you were migrated, so you've been put on one of their older DSLAMs
