Retention deals for committing to another 12 months

[link to this post]

Just wondering, as I'm approaching the end of my first 12 months on Sky Broadband, has anyone been successful on getting any deals from Sky for signing up for another 12 month minimum term on Sky Broadband (no TV)? Given the new packages I'd probably also be put on Sky Talk which seems to make financial sense so I'm ok with that.

O2 were always very willing in this regard, so I wondered what Sky's policy on retention deals is.

Oliver.

Did you ever have any luck negotiating a retention deal Oliver?

No, but as I'm a BT landline customer using Sky broadband, I suspect the best deals would only be available if I were to go "all-in" with Sky. I also don't have Sky TV. I'm considering Sky landline though, due to the £5 a month saving on my broadband, and the fact that Sky's line rental undercuts BT's by £2.35 a month (and unlike BT's it includes evening & weekend calls).

Evening and weekend calls were free if registered with BT Privacy. Don't know if it's still available to new customers or existing customers who now register.

What about Caller Id is that free? Cost an extra £1 or £1.50 with VM.

Was Eclipse Home Option 1 & VM 2Mb
Now O2 standard

BT Privacy doesn't give free evening and weekend calls, it gives free caller display and registration with the TPS (which is free to do anyway).

Yes, caller ID is free with Sky line rental.

Had free Eve&WE calls for a few years now. Can't remember how we got it. I thought I selected BT Privacy and got it and the Caller Id.

As far as I'm aware line rental discounts exist pretty much 24/7 on sky

I have line rental for £1 atm and had it for 20p before.

I've never had a discount applied to my broadband service - it's always been applied to the line rental aspect.

Hope this helps.

If you ring through to cancellations and tell them you want to leave as the deals not very good. Be honest say you would move calls line rental etc to sky if they can offer a discount. You might get somewhere smile

Discounts are hit and miss. One agent cant give anything whilst another can. Hang up and ring back if nothings offered.

Do you have Sky TV? I'm just wondering if Sky TV customers get better retention deals.

I do. In one house I have
Sky tv entertainment extra, with movies, broadband, line rental and calls.
I have 25% discount on TV and £1 line rental here.

& where I am atm
I have sky entertainment extra, no movies or sport, broadband, line rental and calls.
Here I have £1 line rental and didn't enquire about TV discount.

Ah, fair enough, I'm guessing the £1 line rental is for TV subscribers only. I could probably get something off though, maybe some free line rental months.
