Sky Fibre

[link to this post]

Hi, my exchange was fibre enabled months ago. It shows up on SamKnows as being enabled but I cannot order it from Sky. Whenever I ring them, they just say they don't have any details of when it will be available.

Is there any way of getting dates for when a service can be ordered?

It's really frustrating that a company advertises a product on the website, yet knows nothing about it when you ring to order.

Can you get it on this checker:

http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProduc...

That uses the latest from BT I think, so as different cabinets come live you can find it out. I can get it by my parents who live about a mile away off the same exchange cannot.

No it just says "Sorry, you're not currently able to get BT Infinity. This may be because your area has not been enabled yet, or your individual line does not support super-fast broadband. Register your interest and we'll let you know if this changes."

SamKnows says "BT FTTC broadband availability
You are connected to the Astley Bridge telephone exchange.

FTTC is available in your area

» Matched result using the phone you provided"

Not sure what is going on.

Very simple, the exchange and a number of street cabinets are offering the FTTC service.

But the cabinet you are connected to has not been enabled yet, or will not be enabled as part of the commercial roll-out, and may have to wait for a BDUK project perhaps.

Enabling all cabinets on an exchange is a rare thing.
http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/fibre/checker.php may have some more information if you enter your postcode.

So sounds like the cabinet has been delayed try searching using google for planning applications on the street where the cabinet is located

If you put your postcode in here it will advise of cabinet delays: http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/

Just been on Zen and when I typed my number and postcode in, it says:

Line enabled for Fibre Broadband: 30/06/2013

Not sure where that info is from, but at least it's a date. Let's hope it happens.
