Fixed IP address available on SKy fibre?

[link to this post]

I'm a Be customer and have been contacted by Sky offering me the chance to move over. I'm on ADSL but asked about fibre. I was told I could have a fixed IP address but I see no mention of this on Sky's website. Anyone out there on a fixed IP?

Not yet available, but should be by the time BE users are auto-migrated to Sky.

I asked a couple of times and was told I could have a fixed IP included in the £20.00 a month fee... Got the impression it would be now, not in the new year.

I'm not treating it as reliable information though... Sales person was unable to answer a couple of basic questions.

You're right to be sceptical, sales people will often say anything to get a sale (not a Sky-specific issue though).

If you can wait a few months more, Sky fibre with a static IP could be an attractive proposition.

I know I can get a fixed IP on PlusNet or Zen today, I'm not sure that Sky have as good a reputation as those companies. I have been left pretty unimpressed by Sky's call to me.

Consider Easynet Connect - a business ADSL service which uses Sky LLU (not to be confused wih Sky Connect!). They offer up to 13 static ip addresses and also Annex M if required. You could always say you're a home worker, cough cough splutter smile

PlusNet fixed IP cost me a one-off £1 plus the monthly rental for phone and FTTC is cheaper.

For some reason FTTC statics seem to be £4 cheaper than ADSL ones.. No idea why. It's just an admin charge when BT took over they didn't want PN to dish them out for free. I remember the team meeting we had about it at the time.
