New Firmware

[link to this post]

Hi,

Looked at my router (F@ST2504n) this morning and it would appear I've got new firmware, 7.16a4N_UNI, most noticeable difference is that it now IPv6 capable.

Was wondering if anyone else had this ?

Are there any indications in the router interface that it supports IPv6?

From the status page:-

Broadband Port
IPv4 Address ??
Network Type PPPoA
IPv4 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway IPv4 Address ??
IPv4 Domain Name Server 90.207.238.97 90.207.238.99
Gateway IPv6 Address
IPv6 Domain Name Server
IPv6 Global Address
IPv6 Link Local Address
IPv6 Delegated Prefix

LAN Port
MAC Address ??:??:??:??:??:??
IPv4 Address 192.168.0.1
DHCPv4 On
IPv4 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
IPv6 ULA fd50:e4de:55ac::1
IPv6 Global Address
IPv6 Link Local Address fe80::7e03:4cff:feba:246b/64
DHCPv6 On

Adding a firewall rules you see.....

IPv6 Settings
Service
Action
Send to LAN Server:
WAN Users
WAN IPv6 address[/prefix length]: /
Log

So I can only assume it all works.....

Thanks, very nice.

Hopefully us SR101 users will see a similar update soon.

Edit: No great surprise that your firmware release isn't published on Sky's "latest firmware" page: http://help.sky.com/broadband/set-up-sky-broadband/a...

No worries.

Big wheels turn slowly smile

Seems as if IPv6 is rapidly approaching, need to have a read up as I know exactly nothing about it lol.

Well if your router screens are anything to go by, it's quite possible that the router will run a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 set-up giving us the best of both words, which is how it should be done.

As long as there is a firewall set up to ensure nobody can get into your network via IPv6. (lack of NAT effect!).

Do these routers not currrently support ipv6? I have only just recently moved to sky and had one of these routers. Would have thought that any new routers going out from isp's would be ipv6 ready.

It will be ready when Sky push the firmware update.
