Migrated to sky, now my IP has reverted to what looks like..

[link to this post]

...A BeUnlimited IP again

It's a week now since I was migrated from O2 to Sky. I did a speedtest.net test, and got a faster download speed than I had on O2 (IP address was something like 43. or 46. and the site said it was still BeUnlimited) I was obviously connected to sky as I had to make the config changes to my own Netgear router and my line speed went up a bit (as per my signature)

I though I'd do a speedtest with all the wind we're having, and to see if I have been trained any higher, and now I have a 93. address again, and my speeds have gone back to the slightly slower speeds prior to migration (everything still working fine on the sky config)

I just wondered if this was to be expected?

IP changes frequently.

With the last IP change, my speed has also increased.

It is and was skybroadband.com

Mine has degraded significantly since it changed overnight - I will give them some time given the weather we're having

PS Are you saying it's common for them to bounce your connection every night?

Sometimes several days - the IP is usually changed in the early hours.
Recently, it has changed nightly.

IP usually only changes nightly if line testing is testing new speeds (and therefore dropping the synch).

Explain this line testing?

Sky line here that stays up for weeks and weeks

It usually only runs in the first 10 days of a connection going live. After that, on rare occasions, it can run again, but usually it doesn't.

Thanks for the replies guys

Anyway, I will be leaving ASAP now I've seen the extra charges for the pleasure of not having sky talk and other sky services

That sounds more like the system...

Those with less knowledge could have got the idea that Sky drops connections at night, no matter how long you've been a customer.

They work different to the others in terms of starting at 4 Mbps (if possible) and working the speed in the upwards direction.

Typically line testing should be notified here: https://my.sky.com/mysky/myaccount/mybroadband/

In my experience this page is out of date or wrong, though.
