Ex O2 Customers coming to end of their current Sky contract

[link to this post]

Hi,
There must be quite a few ex O2 customers like me who have seen the earlier thread re retentions but wonder what sort of deals are there available for them ? Especially if like me only have broadband and no other packages.
It seemed like quite a few folk at the time, went to Sky and have been getting their broadband at an introductory price for the past 12 months?

I have been paying £5 per month for Sky Unlimited broadband (plus my own phone line rental) since January but the expiry looms. frown

Any advice ? Just phoned and currently £12.50 is best offer.

Well Sky broadband is £7.50 per month plus voice at £16.40 so 12.50 sounds expensive

Was Eclipse Home Option 1, VM 2Mb & O2 Standard
Now Utility Warehouse (up to 16mbps) via Talk Talk

Used to be a 2.50 discount but they reduced price to 7.50 for everyone a while ago

That's interesting news. Certainly existing customers are still being charged a supplement, as this snippet from my last bill shows: http://s16.postimg.org/d2evk6tt1/sky.png

There is/was an offer for O2 customers with TV packages entering a second year.

Family TV package half price £16.50 pm.
Line rental discount to £10 (for 10 months).
You may have to have an existing call package to get this:-
Anytime UK = £5, so £15 pm for line and calls
Broadband free - no fibre here (10 months?).
Total £31.50pm.

O2 Standard April 2009 - November 2013
Now Sky Broadband Unlimited

Actually the removal of the Supplement for not having Sky TV probably explains this: http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/sky/f/4372463-charg...

If the charge is no longer added for new customers, perhaps the function to remove it for older customers when they leave Sky Broadband became broken.

I've just reached the end of the introductory discount period and my BB only rental has gone up from £13 to £15 per month.

Thinking of looking around, but not keen to tie myself into Sky or Plusnet telephone lines as their call charges are significantly more expensive than BT.

As an ex Be customer, sky gave me free line rental and free broadband for 10 months, so the last year cost be £15 in total for both.

I cited moving to BT as i wanted BT sport and sky offered me free broadband, but it still worked out more expensive and I jumped. Coupled with the sainsburys voucher as well.

Now BT are doing broadband for £5 and fibre for £10 it would be interesting to see what sky could come up with, but if you don't want BT sport then they might be wanting to you to stay enough for them to give you the free deal...
