Thinking about upgrading to Fibre Pro

[link to this post]

Morning All,

Been on Sky Fibre unlimited for a few months now and the connection seems stable enough so have been thinking about upgrading to their fibre pro package, below are my stats from the sky hub

Connection Speed 39998 kbps 9995 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.9 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 26.6 dB 15.15 dB

what sort of speed increase should i see? would i be able to get near the 80/20 sync speed ?

could usually work this out on ADSL but no idea when it comes to FTTC

Thanks in Advance

https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html and if you enter your full address will give a good idea of the expected range

Based on you attenuation figure and spare SNR to an extent, i would think that your line should easly sync at the full rates, The BTW address checker is an estimate and can be wrong

Thanks Guys

Checked out the BT site had to put in postcode as it does not recognise my Sky phone line

on the BT site using postcode states 69 - 80 Mb

so might just bite the bullet and see what i sync at

thanks again for the advice smile

You should be able to use the address option (*not* the postcode) for an accurate estimate. But as above, from your stats you should be able to get 80/20 comfortably. Sky will give you an estimate before you upgrade to Pro anyway.
