That's fibre to the cabinet. Fibre connection from the exchange to the green street cabinet and then VDSL2 from the cabinet to your home.

No chance of that as we live in the sticks!! and only have about 2k people on our exchange. Until recently we didn't even have an LLU on it!!

Here are my stats from my router.

Connection Speed 4000 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 12.5 db 19 db

Enter your details in the "downstream attenuation" box and hit calculate - http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/max_speed_calc.php

I presume you are on non-LLU? You could get about 5.5 Meg Sync on ADSL Max. What does your router show as Line/Connection Mode?

You'd probably get less on LLU on such a long line as ADSL2+ will increase your attenuation by about 3 dB.

All "Up To 24 Meg" package means is you could get 24 Meg if you live in your exchange and progressivly less as you wander away from it. At your distance it would be ineffective. frown

You could only gain from FTTC/FTTH if it were ever offered in your locale.

1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up => 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB => 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB => 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU BB => 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU BB

It depends on your line length. What is your attenuation? That is a guide to how long your line is.

Here are my stats from my router.

Connection Speed 4000 kbps 448 kbps
Line Attenuation 48.0 db 25.0 db
Noise Margin 12.5 db 19 db

I am a novice so if someone can help explain what I am likely to get or not if that me the case

Cheers

Perhaps I've missed something but, those stats suggest you haven't been switched over to LLU yet.

Why don't you post on TTMF and see if an OCE can speed things along a bit.wink
