DNS problems tonight?

[link to this post]

Just wondering if anyone else is having issues tonight.
Normal webpages (even coming here) taking ages to load.

only appears to have been an issue the last few hours.

I am not having any problems at the moment.

Have you tried open DNS - http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=open%20dns&...

Or Google DNS to test your connection - http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=google%20dn...

I had the same problem this morning.
Could access Google UK, BBC.
Could not access my own web site, the host, speedtes.net, pingtest.net.
This site very slow to load but speed test on here gave my normal speed.
Could get TT emails but obviously not from my host.

Rebooted the router and it has been OK all day.

Using TT DNS, did not check before reboot, DNS now 62.24.243.1

Bill.

My advice would be to stick with Google DNS permanently. I stopped using TT's own unreliable DNS a long, long time ago - I used OpenDNS before Google DNS existed. Perhaps TT's servers are more reliable than they used to be, but at the time I found OpenDNS far more reliable. I've had very little trouble with Google DNS - I only recall having problems with them a couple of times in the last 2 years, and generally they are good/fast at updating.

Seems like good advice to me. Even folks like me who have a Be connection (an award winning ISP) recommend using OpenDNS!

ive had the same problem tonight sadly using Google DNS.
was unable to access digital spy for a long time then a reboot of the router went from a 78,to 92 IP address and it worked.

it seems really odd the sites getting the 500 error stick the URL in a hidemyass
and it works 100% fine.

I'm using Google DNS and have no problems accessing digital spy. My ip address is in the 92. range and has been for months as my router rarely drops or requires a reboot.
