"How much can I download?

As much as you want! Our Essentials package has an unlimited download allowance giving you access to as much music, film and TV as you like."

Looks like it's unlimited

That doesn't make sense
Ignoring special offers
Essentials plus Anytime Calls Boost £6.50 + £4.50 = £11.00
Plus £14.50
So what else do you get on Plus

God knows...

Perhaps a better router & less traffic shaping? It's not made clear though what the difference is.

No, it makes no sense, esp. when you take into account the 12/6 months @ half-price.

Essentials plus Anytime Calls Boost 12 x (£3.25 + £4.50 = £7.75) = £93 pa.
Plus 6 x £7.25 + 6 x £14.50 = £130.50 pa.

However the Boosts are out-of-date. It still offers Mega Download Boost (Additional 40GB download allowance) on an Unlimited package.

There are some other features like Caller Display, Call Divert, Call Waiting, Ringback, Reminder Call and Three Way Calling. Not sure that's worth £3.50 though.

According to the TalkTalk website, if you're on the Plus package these services get priority over essentials customers:

Newsgroups
Browsing/email
Voice over IP (VOIP)
Gaming
Audio streaming
Video streaming
Music downloads
Video downloads
Instant Messaging
Software updates

P2P is throttled on both tariffs at peak times.
