Port forwarding for CCTV PVR on talktalk router help

[link to this post]

I have created a dyndns account for cctv cameras and all is working internally but when i try to connect over the internet it just takes me to the routers login page? How do i make the router connect through to the cameras cctv pvr. It all worked fine with plusnet but that router had a tab saying port forward on? I have a talktalk 523a router and cant find port forwarding or do i change a different setting? any help appreciated!

Remember even once you have port forwarding setup to check it works, you need to use a device that is not using your local network, e.g. a friend or mobile phone (NOT using wifi).

Should help on the port forwarding configuration

unless you use it, it would be wise to turn off the WAN access to the router's web interface.

you could tor or maybe a proxy to test the cameras, or just a port tester to check your camera port (port80?) is open

http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ for instance

I haven't used IP cameras, but am pretty well versed in networking so maybe I can help.

Can you tell us how you connect to the camera on your network? do you use an app or a browser? do you type in an IP address or a name? do you add a port?
for instance

192.168.1.105 in browser address bar

or do you click on "camera 1" in a running program?

If you can give make/model of camera(s) I can look up the manual

Probably not got WAN access turned on, but simple if you type http://WANIP or domain into a machine on the LAN the usual thing for most routers is to show the routers web interface.

Hence to test port forwarding you really need to use a machine on another Internet connection.

If you can provide a screen shot of the settings you put into the port forwarding section of the router, then people might be able to spot your error.

Also what IPCam it is.

am thinking the IP cameras would use UDP, so the port checker I suggested wouldn't work.

Would that be a correct assumption ?
