talktalk simply broadband slow speed

This web site has a speed monitor that requires flash (no thanks). As an alternative, just tried google's service:

http://www.youtube.com/my_speed

The result is interesting. The talktalk speed is about half (5Mbps) of both the local exchange and national speeds.

Don't see where you reach that conclusion.

You may find this popular speedtest is free of Flash: http://www.speedtest.net/

Bad choice of browser and bad choice of ISP. I for one can't be bothered to help you now.
