Version compatible with Windows 7 Service Pack 1 released

[link to this post]

Version 0.9.7.0 is available for upgrade now, the normal upgrade path should be used, i.e. initiate the upgrade yourself via 'Check For Updates' menu, or wait for app to automatically notice that a new version is available.

This version adds no functionality beyond what was in Version 0.9.6.9 other than now running with Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

For those with the Windows 7 SP1 RC1 and their tbbmeter is NOT running, then obviously the automatic updates will not work, therefore carry out the following stops

SIMPLE VERSION - REQUIRES REBOOT
-----------------------------------------------
1. Rename the existing tbbmeter.exe file to tbbmeter.candelete it is likely to be in program files\thinkbroadband.com\tbbmeter (or the x86 equivalent on a 64 bit OS)
2. Download the file http://tbbmeter.thinkbroadband.com/open/tbbmeter.zip
3. Extract tbbmeter.exe from the zip and put into the tbbmeter folder
4. Reboot computer
5. New version should run after a reboot

FOR THOSE WANTING TO AVOID A REBOOT
------------------------------------------------------
1. Open a CMD.EXE (Command Prompt window) with Run As Administrator rights
2. Issue the command net stop tbbLoaderService
3. Steps 1 and 2 can be skipped if you goto Administrative Tools | Services and tell the tbbLoaderService to stop
4. Rename the existing tbbmeter.exe file to tbbmeter.candelete it is likely to be in program files\thinkbroadband.com\tbbmeter (or the x86 equivalent on a 64 bit OS)
5. Download the file http://tbbmeter.thinkbroadband.com/open/tbbmeter.zip
6. Extract tbbmeter.exe from the zip and put into the tbbmeter folder
7. Via Admin Tools | Services start the tbbLoaderService
8. or via the previously opened command prompt window net start tbbLoaderService

FORTHCOMING CHANGES
-------------------------------

Development work has not been static on tbbmeter. I have a version 0.9.7.5 almost ready for release, this will add

1. An upload test using FTP
2. Download of test files via FTP
3. Some new 1 and 2MB test files, ideal for testing on mobile connections
4. New automated testing features that will be used for the 2011 ISPA Awards http://www.ispaawards.org.uk/page/press
The automated testing will be optional.
