TBBMeter does not show Microsoft downloads

Hi Win7Ultimate user here. . .

I've just downloaded SQL Server Express 2008 WT from Microsoft Downloads using the manual download feature and noticed that TB Meter did not report any download traffic during the download, though "My Downloads window" showed the percentage download increasing.

Wondered if MS are being sneaky and hiding their traffic in the kernel, so TBBMeter can't report it. This isn't the issue of Windows Update sneakly downloading before the user requested to install the update as this was a very specific piece of ms development software that I needed.

If a thread with a TCP state is used that existed before we saw the TCP socket creation, then yes it is possible to miss it.

I have a possibile solution I will look at coding later today.

Just finished coding something that seems to work, but want to do some more local testing, and it can identify WAN traffic that the existing system does not.

Windows update is downloading right now and tbbmeter is not showing anything at all!

Is very odd.

There is a possibility that the sniffing may not see some kernel activity, there is code to handle the situation but I cannot be 100% sure of it in all situations.

This is why we have left the old network interface monitoring in the software.
